Does FRING (Skype) video calling work on the Gem

Well Fring and Skype are separate programs. Skype hasn't released their video calling app yet from what I've heard, but Fring's works fine on any phone, not just those with a front-facing camera. Obviously, if you want to see the person you're talking with, a front-facing camera will be necessary.

I don't forsee any troubles with it working on the Gem, though IIRC you can only currently video chat over WiFi, not 3G currently, though I could be wrong.

Does FRING (Skype) video calling work on the Gem
Hi Loba, thank you for sharing your experinces with your Gem.
What I'm curious of is: Does FRING's two-way video (Skype), work on the GS.
If you have a Skype acount, did you try it?
Thanks for all your info untill now.
I just tried using my laptop. The person on the laptop using skype will be unable to view the guy on the phone as fringe uses the back camera and it apparently freezes (on the guy's com) after a while. So yes, video camera works 50%, the phone guy will be able to view the guy on the com. We can only hope it will be fixed by fringe.

One other annoying thing is that despite being in silent mode, the ringing tone when making or receiving a call on fringe is annoyingly loud as it by default uses the speakerphone at the back, which is switchable to the normal speaker on the front which is still freaking loud.

My understanding is that support for the front camera on each specific model of phone has to be included in the video calling application. We won't likely see this support until around the time the device is released.

Does FRING (Skype) video calling work on the Gem

I'm having problems with Fring on my Gem, it seems the Fring does not recognize the microphone, i tried the Test call but I cannot record my voice and it automatically mutes the phone.

there is no settings on Fring that you can specify the earpiece as the default because it always use the loudspeaker..

Is there a way to change the default application for opening a certain kind of file?
Currently the default app to open my .txt file is HTMLViewer, but I'd like to change it to ThinkFree Office. Hope there's a way out!

Hi to all, i just want to ask help on how to use TV out function, i watched some demo in youtube about SGS TV out function,

i bought a audio video composite cable with a 3.5mm jack on the other end, and plugged to the tv set, selected the AV function in the tv, still not able to get any display or any sound from the tv.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post on the site, first post on any site really, and I have a question.

Does anyone know about the availability of the "desk mount" for the galaxy S? Looks like it would make a great bedside alarm clock set-up? I've seen it featured in their adds and even found a site hat had it a week ago for sale but now lists it as "discontinued." I'm wondering if this is a product that's still in the pipeline, is it available in other countries and hasn't made it to the States yet, or if you have one and can tell me what your experience with it is ..? Any of that would be helpful. So, first time posting a question anywhere ... hope I pressed all the right buttons, asked the question in the right place, and with luck don't' look too silly doing it. Thanks all!

I have 2 questions:

1. can you have a ringtone for your email that different from your text alert?  if not then why the hell not?

2.  why does the battery life suck?  mine only lasts less than a day, does that mean I have  a bad battery?

If you're using Google Mail, start it, press the Menu button, select Configuration and find that you can select the ringtone there, which is a seperate setting from the one in the general configuration.

Not sure about the generic e-mail application, but I suppose the steps above could work just the same.
